Final Report - DRYCLOSET (New biocide dry toilet with improved hygienic functionalities)

This is the summary report for the DRYCLOSET project which received funding under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). DRYCLOSET aimed to develop a new technology that allows to get new and efficient toilet that contributes to reduce the use of water by providing a plastic toilet with improved features that could be more acceptable by the consumer, with biocidal properties, low bad odours emissions and low maintenance. The work was focused on the study of development of a formulation for a biocide polymer useful for the drytoilet application, on the development of an antistruvite solution able to be used in the prevention of struvite precipitation and also on the development of a biofilter to be integrated in Ecosphere current dry toilets.

The report covers the project context, the current troubles that need to be overcome for the drytoilet's wider use, as well as the most remarkable results. The second chapter elaborates on the project objectives while the third chapter argues on the work performed and the achievements of each work package. The other chapters cover the milestones and the project management activities.
