This is the final report of the REHAB-DUET project, which is funded under the European Commission (EC) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). Each year, about 15 million people suffer a stroke, the most common neurological injury, causing loss of their independence and significant decrease of their welfare. Studies have shown that physical rehabilitation therapy is responsible for most of the recovery experienced by patients with disabilities secondary to neurological injuries. Robotic devices allow quantitative measurements of patient progress while enforcing, measuring, and evaluating patient movements.

This project set out to develop a powered, teleoperated, exoskeleton-based rehabilitation system to assist physical therapy of forearm and wrist. Two identical exoskeletons have been manufactured and experiments have been conducted to characterise their performance for rehabilitation of forearm and wrist rotations.
