The workshop took place in the premises of Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece during July 3 to 5, 1995. Distinguished scientists from Austria, Cyprus, European Commission DG XII, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and Ukraine participated with either oral or poster presentations. In addition during the last day of this workshop, participants had the chance to visit the Axios River monitoring station for on-site demonstration of an on-line micropollutant monitoring system developed via the EU Project EV5V-CT92-0105.
The scientific subjects presented covered three main topics including monitoring studies, special techniques and degradation studies, and occurrence of micropollutants in rivers and other aquatic systems. These topics were covered with 19 oral and 17 poster papers presented by contractors from EU and non-EU Environment Programs. These proceeding give a clear view on the current research activities on these topics in the participating countries.
