This report describes the preparation, homogeneity, stability and certification study of a contaminated industrial soil (CRM 524) certified for its contents of pentachlorophenol (PCP) and eight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). The certification of PCP was realised in a separate interlaboratory study from that of the PAH. A description of the analytical procedures used in the homogeneity and stability studies and in both certification procedures is presented. All individual results are reported. A brief summary of analytical recommendations emerging from the interlaboratory studies involved is given.
