The study of fission reactions and migration in the nearby field allows the separation of the elements emitted from reaction zones in different categories, in accordance with their behaviour and compatibility with the uranite crystalline structure.
The uraninites of Oklo, despite their age, show a structure remarkably similar to structures of present day irradiated nuclear fuels without retreatment. In the proximity of reaction zones, the partial migration of elements, thus their retention by minerals were demonstrated.
