Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This document presents the technical and managerial results of the air traffic management (ATM) European group for the improvement of scenarios (AEGIS) study. Work on the study was divided into three phases, which were further broken down into nine technical workpackages and one managerial workpackage. The results of the work are discussed by workpackage. The objectives of the AEGIS study were:
to explore new aspects of air traffic management benefitting from the multidisciplinary origins of the members of the AEGIS consortium, as a complement to the programme for harmonized ATM research in Eurocontrol (PHARE).
to derive one or several scenarios to meet the needs of European ATM in the 21st century, taking existing ATM-related scenarios and programs as a starting point;
to ensure that a common approach to ATM problems is taken by all members of the ATM community, including industry, academic institutions and airlines;
to provide fresh thinking in the field of ATM. TM.
