Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The network on magnetic molecular materials was established on 1 May 1993 within the human capital and mobility (HCM) programme and describes the research performed in the laboratories of the network as well as the background of the recent developments in molecular magnetism, stressing in particular the relevance of European science in this important scientific area. The research undertaken by the network partners comprises the rush to room temperature, spin cross-over systems and storage information and the nanoscale magnetic particles.
Within the framework of the HCM programme as many as 700 networks were awarded Community support. The research teams were chosen on the basis of the originality of their approach, their scientific excellence and the research value of their proposals. The work of the HCM programme has been continued in the Community's training and mobility of researchers programme (TMR), 1994-98.
Many of the networks in the HCM programme are multidisciplinary or have diverse applications, including the network on magnetic molecular materials which is the subject of this report. The publication of this report is meant to give an illustrative example of the work being undertaken under the HCM programme at large. .
