  • COST 822: Development of integrated systems for large-scale propagation of elite plants using in vitro techniques Report of activities, 1994-95

European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research (COST) 822 is an action on in vitro plant culture. COST 822 started in 1994 with 18 countries and 130 laboratories. This report is an account of the initial period of the action from it's inception in July 1994 to December 1995. The aim of COST 822 is to coordinate European research on plant tissue culture as stated in the title of the action. To this end the programme has been organized into 5 working groups:
physiology and control of plant propagation in vitro;
plant regeneration via suspension culture systems;
identification and control of phase change in rejuvenation;
molecular aspects of differentiation and transformation;
mechanisms and markers of regeneration and genetic stability;
In addition there is a joint working group with COST 821 on mycorrhizae and plant in vitro culture. The report contains management committee details and reports on the 5 working groups and joint working group. A report is given on short term scientific missions. The report concludes with a list of references to COST 822 related scientific papers, and a list of COST 822 publications. ions.
