Thin strip casting in a twin roller of Bessemer type is investigated world-wide now. In this investigation the formation of a stable strip in the pool is described by model calculations. By help of numerous experimental data and approximative solutions of the heat transfer problems a model was set up with the following features:

- Analytical description of correlations between process parameters;
- Dendritic solidification with variable dendrite length;
- Nearly no calibration procedures; thus the model is valid for a large number of steels.

The most important quantities which are described are the following:

- Heights of the pool parts without or with a mushy zone;
- Strip temperatures;
- Rolling force;
- Degree of solidification;
- Heat transfer coefficient between strip and rolls.

This new casting technique implies the possibilities to include further treatment such as cooling or deformation coming from the first heat. Thus also the possibilities of cooling by a subsequent second pair of rolls were studied. were studied.
