This final report draws together the results of research carried out within the COST 509 international collaborative study and is presented under three headings, Preventative measures which discusses options available to the designer to increase the durability of a reinforced concrete structure, Monitoring which discusses measures which can be taken to monitor the condition of the structure from new with the aid of cast in sensors or at any time in the life of a structure by non-destructive testing and Rehabilitation which considers some methods of rehabilitating a reinforced concrete structure following corrosion of the reinforcement.
