This study aimed to verify the potential applications of dual-phase steel wire rods directly from the rolling mill avoiding employing additional thermal treatments.

The metallurgic aspects of the conditions of hot rolling and the accelerated-controlled cooling cycles of steel wire rods, whose composition is 0.06-0.09 C; 1.3-1.7 Mn; 0.8-0.9 Si, were analysed in laboratory tests as follows:

- The effect of the chemical analysis, deformation and cooling on the characteristics of the phase transformation of austenite, nature and fraction in terms of volume of martensite spots;
- The relation between the dual phase microstructure and the mechanical characteristics.
