The present work aims to build a model, working on personal computer (PC), for the metallurgical and thermal aspects in hot rolling of C-Mn steels, a model describing the microstructural evolution of steels from reheating to the final cooling, including the prediction of the mechanical properties. This model integrates the following metallurgical subroutines:

- In the reheating stage, the dissolution of aluminium nitride (AIN) precipitates and the grain growth interacting with particles;
- In the deformation part, the steel deformation resistance, the rolling forces, torques and powers, the recrystallization process and microstructural evolution;
- In the cooling part, the critical cooling time (CCT) diagram prediction, the kinetic of phase transformation, the transformed ferrite grain size, the nitrogen in solution in the coil.

The final mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength, yield strength) are evaluated in function of the final microstructure. ture.
