The objective of this research project was to develop a computer database, containing cyclic and low cycle fatigue properties of steels, with the data obtained from various European test laboratories. It was envisaged that subsequent evaluation of these data would identify areas where future testing may the required. Where data were available, they were mainly related to low cycle fatigue. Using these data the entry and search routines for the low cycle fatigue part of the database were checked and considered to operate satisfactorily. However, there was very little data on cyclic properties, therefore this part of the database could not be checked adequately. From the results of this work various recommendations have been made, for low cycle fatigue testing, which may be relevant to future testing and determination of the relevant parameters. The database produced, whilst containing all the data supplied and some additional information from literature, should be regarded as provisional.
