  • COST 819: Entomopathogenic nematodes: Pathogenicity of entomopathogenic nematodes versus insect defence mechanisms: Impact on selection of virulent strains

This volume is devoted to papers examining various aspects of the pathogenicity of entomopathogenic nematodes versus insect defence mechanisms in order to promote new strains of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) for developing their use in field of agriculture. They were presented during a workshop convened in Ponta Delgada at the Universidade dos Açores (Portugal), 17-20 March 1996. Talks are divided in three sections. The first includes papers on the pathogenicity of bacteria and of nematodes, the second examines responses of the insect preys towards such infections, and the third is looking for virulence factors in order to promote a selection of the most virulent combinations of bacterium nematode symbioses.
