The goal of the project is a detailed study of the air-knife fluid-dynamics, in order to find a mathematical relation between coating thickness and process variables like: line speed, jet position, operating pressure of air knife, slit gap dimension where the air is blown. The study has been done coupling two different software results. The gas flow field is predicted by using the commercial code Fluent while the liquid film and the ineraction with the gas jet is modelled by using an ad hoc code called MENISCUS. The mathematical approach, described in the previous report, has been applied utilizing first some tests case carried out on a pilot plant and then measured values supplied by a full scale plant working conditions.
