Studies of hydraulic transfer between argillaceous rock and the excavations in an underground laboratory for storage of radioactive waste: Phebus tests
Project ID:
FI2W0116
Funded under: FP2-RADWASTOM 4C
Abstract
The water content and saturation degree of compacted clays seem to have a great influence on the properties of such material considered as a possible host rock for a high level radioactive waste repository. The aim of the PHEBUS project is to study the hydrous and hydro-mechanical behaviour of deep clay during desaturation as can occur around underground galleries. The programme included modelling works, mock-up tests and an in situ experiment carried out at Mol.
