The aim of this research project is to study and build an innovative feeding system for steel for the counter-rotating mould strip caster. The system covered by the research consists of two devices that will be separately developed then, in the future, they will operate together. The first device is focused towards a uniform liquid steel distribution across the width of the mould. It consists of one or more submerged nozzles having advanced geometry which ensures the best fluid dynamics conditions for the flow of steel into the mould. The second is a vertical electromagnetic feeding control device (applied to a tundish) consisting of a nozzle with a rectangular flow section. A magnetic field between the polar pieces acts on the electric current and generates a force along the direction of the steel flow upwards and downwards. So it is possible to accelerate or decelerate the flow of the steel by varying the intensity and/or direction of the electric current or magnetic field.
