Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This is the second Annual report prepared under the auspices of COST820: Vaccines against coccidioses and it presents the major activities in this field in 1996. Live attenuated vaccines developed and introduced within Europe during the past few years now provide a further means for the control of avian coccidiosis and toxoplasmosis in sheep. Europe now leads the way with the use of the latest live vaccines and the derivation of recombinant vaccines is being investigated in a number of laboratories. The identification, isolation and evaluation of molecular targets that are suitable for immunological attack are complex tasks and the COST 820 provides a marvellous forum for European coccidiologists to pool intellectual and physical resources.
