Metallurgical optimization of temper-rolling process consists of defining the process conditions which allow identification of the mechanical characteristics (suppression of yield elongation if necessary) and the specified roughness transfer upon sheet. The aim of this research was to enlarge the knowledge of the metallurgical aspects of the process and the roughness transfer. A large number of parameters can influence the temper-rolling process and that implied a systematic study of:

- The rolling speed;
- The entry and exit tensions, mean value and balance;
- The mechanical characteristics of the sheet;
- Lubricated temper-rolling conditions (emulsion).

Experimental tests were carried on the IRSID pilot scale cold rolling mill and compared to industrial values. alues.
