  • Study of the priming mechanism of the crack in the thermically altered zone of TMCP steels, for pipes of a higher grade which are immersed in a humid hydrogen-rich environment


The present research studies the mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement, in materials whose microstructure is similar to that found in some parts of the thermically altered zone (ZTA) of steels for the control of thermomechanical processes (TMCP) (sour service). Sheet metal of API X65 grade has been used. Two trunks have been obtained from the sheet metal, through two appropriate thermal treatments. The mechanical properties, both in air and in aggressive environments, have been determined.
