Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The aim of this research is to clarify the mechanisms of cosmetic corrosion on a painted sheet and to highlight the relative importance of the parameters characterizing the aggressive environment, namely:

- The exposure time in an aqueous phase (wet time);
- The drying between two cycles;
- The influence of the presence of salts in relation with the degree of humidity;
- The concentration in chlorides and in SO(2) in the atmosphere;
- The interaction between those parameters and with the type of steel surface.

Those corrosion tests are carried out either under natural atmosphere or with a climatic chamber monitoring separately each of these parameters. meters.
