  • Development of a model for hot strip rolling of duplex and non-oriented magnetic steels with a full coupling between the thermomechanics and the kinetics of microstructural evolution


The successful hot rolling of duplex stainless and magnetic steels is highly dependent on the interaction between a deformed structure not fully changed by interpass static recrystallization and the mechanics under the roll gap. This project aimed at elaborating constitutive laws from mechanical testing and at their coupling with the thermomechanics of deformation in a computational rolling model designed to identify deformation areas critical to the finishing of the product. The effects of these areas on the product are examined by experimental rolling and finally used to find criteria and procedures to improve the quality of the strip.
