This, the fifth volume of the proceedings of COST Action 917 contains papers presented at two meetings: the second workshop of Working Group 2, Polyamines and tumour growth, held at Bad Nauheim (DE), between 30 April and 2 May, 1999 and the second workshop of Working Group 4, Biologically active amines in food processing and amines produced by bacteria, held between 3 and 6 June 1999 in Pruhonice (CZ). The first of these meetings focused on dietary polyamines, cellular proliferation and tumour growth.
