Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Specific and overall migration tests must be carried out to check the compliance of polymeric food contact materials with the existing EU/EEC regulations. A recent amendment introduced the possibility of using modelling of potential migration as a conformity and quality assurance tool. In order to provide adequate training and understanding to the enforcement laboratories in the Member States, a training course on the use of mathematical modelling software was organised at the JRC Ispra in November 2002. This volume contains the presentations given at the training course. It includes a theoretical paper on diffusion models, their validation, functioning of software tools and their limits.
