Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The specific programme "Nuclear Fission Safety 1994-1998", under the Euratom 4th Framework Programme, consisted of five research areas, each of them divided into a number of sub-areas. This EUR report contains the final summary reports of the 12 multi-partner research projects carried out in the sub-area B.3 "Source Term", which were grouped under a common "cluster" known as "ST".

It also contains an overview paper prepared by the EC Scientific Officers in charge of the cluster, with emphasis on the objectives, results and relevant achievements of the projects. Similar EUR reports have been produced for the other 6 clusters of projects of area B ("Reactor Safety"), namely "AGE", "INV", "EXV", "CONT", "AMM" and "INNO".

The main objective of that programme is to evaluate the amount and nature of radioactive products that could be released in case of the occurrence of a core meltdown accident in a light water reactor.
