COST Materials Action 521 was a collaborative research effort of 19 different European laboratories between 1997 and 2002. The main objective of COST 521 was to support the construction industry and owners of steel reinforced concrete buildings and structures by the technical and economic optimisation of the resources used to construct, monitor and maintain steel reinforced concrete buildings and structures. The final report of COST 521 is thus dedicated to 'end users'. It summarises the state of the art and gives valuable information on preventive measures, monitoring and maintenance for reinforced concrete structures.
