On 5 - 7 October 2005, the Region of Edinburgh hosted the final PAXIS Workshop. The PAXIS partner, Edinburgh, welcomed over 230 European innovation practitioners from 22 PAXIS Regions of Excellence and projects as well as the partners of the Europe Innova project dealing with clusters development and sectoral innovation financing and the IRE network. An important part of the Workshop was the organisation of Peer Reviews of all PAXIS Thematic Networks and Validation Projects, which aimed to identify the main tangible results and good practices of the Networks and Projects, thus highlighting European added value created in the field of innovation. The event was organised by PAXIS, hosted by Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian, and supported by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry. The Workshop provided an excellent opportunity to:
- Learn from the PAXIS network about transferring innovation policy, tools and programmes;
- Discuss how the PAXIS experience could move towards the next level in the new PRO-INNO initiative; and
- Get to know the actors involved in Europe Innova projects in sectoral innovation financing and cluster networks.
The following report represents a summary of the key points presented by speakers as well as the main issues discussed during round table events. Furthermore, it provides an overview of the results of the Peer Reviews, an overview of the press coverage and an analysis of the feedback from the participants. Further information on the workshop, including copies of the presentations, can be found on the internet site
