MULTISENSOR VISUAL INSPECTION IN HIGH SPEED GARMENT PRODUCTION.

Exploitable results

An inspection machine has been designed and developed to automatically detect and classify pantyhose defects which have occurred in the manufacturing process. The tests performed on thousands of pantyhose have showed that the system is able to classify with a confidence level of higher than 90% at the required throughput of 5 s per pantyhose (both sides). The benefits are straightforward: a reduction in defective production from 0.7 to 0.35 and the cost by a factor of 35%. The machine is based in a patented systolic processor to perform at real time and a computer program with copyright capable to detect the pantyhose flaws. Results are stored in a database so that production and quality statistics are provided when required. The machine is now working in Gassol's factory plant.
