Control strategy for fed batch penicillin fermentation

Within the scope of the project a model has been developed which describes quite well the fed batch fermentation of penicillin.
The structural properties of the model have been analysed and the yield coefficients identified. The practical applicability of the model developed on experimental pilot plant fermentations has been demonstrated in a great variety of conditions.
The control strategy for the penicillin fermentation process which will be developed by the end of the project is expected to lead to increases in the yield of the product enabling a reduction in the production costs.
