eBRAIN Report Summary

Project ID: 711190

Reporting period: 2015-12-01 to 2016-05-31

Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

The objective of the eBrain innovation is to introduce in the market a new platform to empower energy consumers and distributed producers by a series of innovative services and energy contracts.
These new services tackle the mentioned Electric System problems and create value both to consumers and producers but also system operators.
The promoter is Eviso S.r.l ( a leading intelligent energy provider in Italy.

The Electric Systems in most European countries suffered major changes in the last decade due to the fast penetration of new technologies such as Distributed Production, Demand Management and Data Processing. The rhythm of change has been so high that created negative feedback effects that can compromise the capture of the created value.

In order to reach our goals a series of innovative technologies were developed by eVISO since 2012 and integrated in a single platform called eBrain that supports the offer of the following services:
- Real-time Production Forecast
- Real-time Market Bidding
- Power Alerts and Energy Efficiency Reporting
- Auto-Consumption Management
- Demand-side Management & Response
All these services are included in Energy Contracts bundled into eVISO’s energy retailer offer.

1. Energy Distributed Renewables
2. Energy Consumer Looking for Empowerment (SMEs)

European Dimension
The case study in Italy is similar in most European Markets where distributed production and empowerment of consumers is creating stress and opportunities. Moreover, the European Energy Market ensures the technology compatibility of our tools and a simplified transition.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

The main result of this feasibility phase is that Eviso confirmed its decision to continue to invest in the project. The increased confidence of the company is based mainly on client and stakeholders positive feedback and on the detailed planning and risk control that this phase originated.

The new findings about the critical role of a new digital training for sales agents is an example of the high impact that this Phase had on the Ebrain project.

The overall takeaway of this feasibility stage is that it was a success in delivering high-quality and valuable results in the expected timing and contributed decisively for the Eviso shareholders to keep supporting the eBrain project and its proposal to a Phase 2 at SME Instrument.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

The Ebrain project has created the following innovative technologies that benefit of consumers and producers:
• Real-time Metering
• Client Interaction
• Big Data Process
• Market Models
• Real-time Power Forecast
• Real-time Energy Biding
