Periodic Reporting for period 1 - CODECS (COoperative ITS DEployment Coordination Support)

Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

The coordination and support action CODECS - COoperative ITS DEployment Coordination Support started its activity 1 May 2015. Until 30 April 2018 CODECS aims on four objectives:

1) ensuring interoperability of initial C-ITS Deployment
2) developing and aligning C-ITS Deployment road maps
3) addressing the chick-en-egg-problem by synchronising actions of core C-ITS stakeholders and
4) coordinating strategy of C-ITS implementation.

C-ITS is expected to significantly contribute to improve road safety, traffic efficiency and comfort of driving.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

During the first reporting period CODECS organised 12 public workshops for involving external stakeholders, undertook further dissemination activities and created 12 deliverables. The released information can be downloaded from the CODECS website www.codecs-project.eu.

At the beginning CODECS had to kick-off and to raise its awareness level in the stakeholder community. This phase was followed by a collecting information phase, building up the initial and further growing CODECS Stakeholder Network, exchanging information with the stakeholders and collecting their views and requirements. By end of the first reporting period 31 October 2016 CODECS has entered the phase of assessing and compiling the information. During the second reporting period CODECS will focus on consolidating and harmonising the stakeholder information for achieving a common view on C-ITS Deployment and further developments.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

CODECS brings different stakeholder groups together for collecting and harmonising their views on C-ITS deployment in Europe. Results and uncovered issues are brought in to the Amsterdam Group and the C-ITS Deployment Platform. This CODECS contibutes actively to the aspired successful C-ITS deployment in Europe with seamless user-experience.
