Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Lithuanian-based transport telecommunications company Ruptela UAB presents our new solution – INTRANSYS. It is a new Transport Management System (TMS) which is being currently developed and is funded by European Union. It will integrate hardware and software with real-time data to provide a holistic, cost effective TMS that is geared towards SMEs. INTRANSYS will provide a platform to view, manage and report on transportation and logistics operations. It will also make communication between dispatchers, drivers, and logistics managers quicker and easier by having information needed more readily available.
Companies that have significant part of their operations in areas of transport, distribution and supply management are continuously challenged to save time and money. They feel constant pressure to increase efficiency as well as ensuring better customer satisfaction. Logistics managers have to develop most efficient routes, while providing flexibility and meet time windows. The overall objective is to develop an affordable, standard and competitive platform that brings together all the most important features that an all-in-one TMS must include. As the Transport sector represents 4.6% of Europe’s GDP, conservative savings of 10% with INTRANSYS represent more than € 57,000 M.
INTRANSYS will combine all the best and necessary aspects of a fully integrated TMS, plus, it will add more online features that are not currently common for a TMS. As INTRANSYS is a holistic TMS which will provided as a Software as a Service (SaaS), it will drastically reduce set up times and costs for companies which otherwise has to look into making a customized solution to fit their needs. INTRANSYS will cover a wide range of needs in one solution.
On the operational level INTRANSYS aims to become a single tool for dispatchers and managers that will seamlessly integrate in to the supply chain processes of any logistics organization. The functionalities help dispatchers keep track of the vehicles and drivers on the field, manage and dispatch deliveries and have control over routes that are occurring throughout the day. Our solution is important for society, because:
- transport will become more Resource Efficient, that respects the environment. Our tool to influence driver behavior in order to reduce fuel consumption is directly related to this broad line. By reducing the fuel consumption, we directly contribute to the EC’s goal of forcing the reduction of CO2 emissions of the transport industry (95 g/km expected for 2020, the average is 132 g/km) reducing the negative impact of transport on the climate and environment.
- Better mobility, less congestion, more safety and security. Our algorithm for real time optimization of routes will allow drivers to choose the best way to reach their destination based on data such as accidents, traffic condition and tachograph. This feature will improve mobility, increasing fluidity of vehicles on the roads. Additionally, our tool to influence driver behaviour will promote better usage of vehicles leading to safer and more secure driving.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

In twelve months from beginning of the project with 45 professionals team in the company were created:
- four great prototypes, some of them is brand new hardware with all new features incorporating new wireless technologies in TMS industry;
- great route planning algorithms you had never seen before with all new web applications API, orders input GUI and real-time dashboards ;
- benchmarking features. This is part of real-time dashboards ant it lets user to compare and analyze lots of data with great user experience;

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

Four prototypes at this stage of the project lets us to finish development of all other planed components of INTRANSYS in the project. New hardware lets us to create great new software feature. These features will change user experience, because user with new hardware can use wireless devices, route planing algorithms combined with order or dispatch management, and all jobs INTRANSYS will do for you. These items save INTRANSYS user time and others important rescore like transport park units, HR, training cost and all other cost factors in the business.
For even better user experience we had designed real-time dashboards and benchmarking features. This part will let to adjust user processes and to achieve event better cost saving results. Our product users will be more competitive in the market and we hope it can become new market standard and it will change socio-economic habits.
With all new solution - INTRANSYS will help our business partners to achieve greater growth in the long and short term through close partnership, knowledge and experience, providing fully integrated, high quality technologies products as service.
