Exploitable results Development of Reference Materials for Paralytic Shellfish Poisons The report describes the preparation of two lyophilized mussel reference materials and the certification of the mass fractions of saxitoxin and dc-saxitoxin in these materials. Saxitoxin and dc-saxitoxin belong to the group of the Paralytic Shellfish Poisons (PSP). In addition information is given about the preparation of a saxitoxin enrichment solution (CRM 663) to be used with the blank reference material (CRM 543) so as to obtain a reference material positive for saxitoxin.
