Final Report Summary - GT5LD2013 (Gauge theories in 5 and lower dimensions: string perspective, holographic avatars and exact results) This is the final report on the Marie Curie Career Integration Grant GT5LD2013 Gauge theories in 5 and lower dimensions: string perspective, holographic avatars and exact results. In grand terms, the target of the project was the study of gauge theories in various dimensions, paying special attention to the, comparatively, less studied higher dimensional case (i.e. in dimensions larger than 4). Studying such theories is very interesting, since they not only exhibit very exotic and intriguing phenomena as a consequence of being intrinsically strongly coupled, but also because they play a pivotal role as building blocks which, upon compactification on appropriate spaces, lead to lower dimensional theories. Thus, a inter-dimensional network of connections among theories emerges, providing a very deep view on Quantum Field Theory.The project was, and still is, very timely, as a great body of the current cutting edge research is devoted, in one way or another, to this very profound goal as described above.
