Geological history and numerical modelling of the east European sedimentary basins (Peri-Caspian basin, Moscow-Volga-Urals, Pechora basin and east Barents Sea basin), Russia, Kazakhstan

Deliverables

Methods utilised in the study and products included: - Compilation of stratigraphic sections and maps involving the revision of existing stratigraphic correlations; - Compilation of the relative sea-level curve for Eastern Europe; - Burial history modelling and the analysis of the thermal history of the sedimentary successions and quantitative modelling of hydrocarbon maturation and thermal histories; - The analysis of the role of magmatism in the studied basins and inferring the geodynamic controls on magmatic events; - Palaeo-tectonic reconstructions of the sedimentary basin settings in the Urals-Novaya Zemlya region; - The analysis of rift phases and tectonic inversions affecting sedimentary basins within the study area and the correlation of these events with periods of sea-floor spreading and orogenic events in the platform framing orogenic belts (emphasising the Urals-Novaya Zemlya belt); - And accordingly, the development of a quantitative framework for the dynamical evolution of the studied sedimentary basins.
