Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

HarsSMEs is the interface between the HarsNet partners and the chemical industry. As part of this task, national forums, conferences and individual meetings are supported. The main activities that take place in these forums is the dissemination of the work done by HarsNet and in how can SMEs use and take profit of this work.

The objectives of these actions are to create a wide European forum for the exchange of knowledge and technological development, and to establish a platform to disseminate the work done by the network, where the chemical industry has the opportunity to explain their problems and concerns. This subtasks aims to promote and encourage the adoption of the HarsNet results by the process industries. As a result of those activities, agreements have been established in different countries with chemical societies or associations, in order to create awareness and to help transfer all the HarsNet results throughout the chemical industry. In the last period of HarsNet, the dissemination of HarsMeth has been very intense. SMEs have been able to express their opinion on the methodology, either by the visits that partners have done to the SMEs, or through the training partners area of the web page.

The feedback collected has been used to improve the methodology. SMEs have also shown a great interest in using HarsBook as a guide to assess the hazard of their reactive processes.
