Detailed and reduced schemes for HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition)

The overall aim of the PLANET (Platform on auto-ignition numerical engine simulation tools) project was to provide an extensive basic knowledge of HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) combustion, and to develop a modern computer simulation tool to support industrial engine design.

Program Package for Reaction Mechanism Analysis and Optimisation:
A new software product has been developed that provides a graphical user interface for reaction mechanism development, control, analysis and optimisation. The program has been used to develop reaction mechanisms to simulate gasoline and diesel fuel combustion in HCCI engines. The design of the program allows the usage in research fields that need to treat complex reaction mechanism, other than combustion; i.e. atmospheric chemistry, chemistry, nano-particle science and biology.
