Service and resource management functional architecture

The functional architecture provides a viewpoint of the TORRENT platform that is relevant to implementers and users of that platform.

There are several layers:
- Physical: This layer describes the hardware of the Local Access Point and the Residential Gateway, the interfaces and the physical links between them.

- Linux-OS: This contains, apart from the operating system, driver extensions and Netfilter-based packet-handling extensions.

- Support: This includes the applications programming interface (from Flextel), the Human-Computer Interface and Packet-Handling Functionality.

It also includes the Agent Platform (FIPA-OS).

- Decision: This agent-based layer can be subdivided in to 2 further layers.

- Reactive: Session/Call Control, Policy Enforcement.

- Proactive: Negotiation, Strategy, Policy Creation.
