Possibility of brazing C-C/SiC CMC with the BraSiC®process

Starting from the innovative non-reactive BraSiC® filler alloys developed previously by CEA, joints have been produced using several most suitable BraSiC® grades. These joints remain non-reactive against the CMC and the infiltration of the braze in the composite is limited.

Depending on the process conditions, the properties can be tailored to match different requirements: decrease the global CTE of the joint to limit cracking and thus increase strength and tightness.
