Data separation approach to limit geographical data exchange to what is necessary

Efforts to describe the influence of the data quality on the final decisions lead to formalization of the interaction between data quality description and the description of the user task. It brought together under in one framework the different strands of revision of geographic data explored; in particular, the research at TU on integration of data and the propagation of data quality showed:
(1) how the well known and widely used methods to propagate precision or accuracy of spatial data using Gauss' rule of error propagation can be generalized to apply to data not expressed on a continuous scale; and
(2) how methods widely used in decision making - related to masslow's work in psychology - can be integrated in a formal framework.
