Exploitable results Directly modulated 1310 nm QD DFB lasers for uncooled isolator free 10 GBit/s applications Most of the cost of telecommunication lasers modules is currently given by non-semiconductor components like optical isolators and thermoelectric coolers. Uncooled semiconductor lasers have excellent potential as low-cost transmitters for various telecom applications. We were able to develop GaAs based 1.3µm DFB laser diodes for isolator free operation based on quantum dot (QD) active material capable of 10 GBit/s operation with a fixed operation point in the temperature range from 25 to 85°C. This performance provides important cost advantages in a competitive international market. Searching for OpenAIRE data... There was an error trying to search data from OpenAIRE No results available
