Marie-Curie Training Site at the IMPRS in Astrophysics

Final Activity Report Summary - MC-IMPRS-ASTRO (Marie-Curie Training Site at the IMPRS in Astrophysics)

This project provided partial support for students at the ‘International Max Planck Research School in Astrophysics’ (IMPRS) at the Ludwig Maximilian’s University of Munich. Founded in 2000 and located on the research campus in Garching near Munich, this doctoral school links six institutions with world-class research programs in astrophysics and astroparticle physics.

Students completed a three-year PhD with lectures, seminars and assessment coordinated and monitored by the IMPRS, but with research carried out in their individual institutes. The school was populated by between 70 and 80 students throughout the four years of this EU project, thus being the largest research school in astrophysics in Europe. The project financed 65 different students, among which 34 were female, for a total of 435 person months. Out of these students 23 had already graduated with a PhD by the time of the project completion and almost all were still active in astrophysical research in their home countries and elsewhere.
