Final Activity Report Summary - NGST (Noncommutative Geometry in String Theory)

The intention of the project has been to explore the mathematical aspects of string theory, in particular those related to noncommutative geometry. The fellow obtained very interesting results related to the generalised geometry which has been recently introduced by Nigel Hitchin. In a way it shows that string theory requires the modification of 'classical' differential geometry. Indeed this is the point where the concepts of theoretical physics have a big impact on the development of modern geometry.
