Compact satellite system for effective on-board communications

An innovative marine TxRx satellite communication tracking system has been realised. It offers 1MB bandwidth for two-way data transmission to/from ships even under adverse sea conditions.

One of the major drawbacks in marine communications is the space limitations for hosting equipment onboard. Additionally, high performance systems particularly under very difficult environmental conditions are still expensive. To answer these needs of the marine market, an Israeli SME developed the new AL-7103-SYS Sea-Going Marine Satellite Tracking and Communication System.

This innovative system constitutes a robust communication solution that allows ships to receive and transmit data communication between ships-to-ships and ships-to-shore. Unlike most conventional systems used, this novelty has an unequalled compact, very small aperture terminal satellite tracking system with 1MB bandwidth for two-way data transmission.

Key advantages include continuous high-bandwidth data communication of email, Internet, data, fax and telephone and extremely precise tracking capability, even under adverse sea conditions. In comparison to other traditional systems used, this new one is less costly, more compact and features simplicity in installation and maintenance including simplified single coax cabling installation.

This is a unique combination of advanced tracking and control system for continuous high-bandwidth communication with optimised size, price and performance. The technology can find commercial applications in a wide range of ships varying from cargo and cruise ships to oilrigs and yachts including military deployment.

Further collaboration is sought with a service provider, integrator or distributor engaged in marine technology and communications systems for sea-going vessels. Partners could contribute in the development, production and testing of specific parts needed for the particular installation under the technical assistance of the SME.
