Innovative intubation device

As a medical procedure, intubation is of crucial importance for a patient's short-term and long-term health.

Tracheal intubation essentially entails a disruption to the patient's intake of oxygen and it is crucial that the process of intubating a patient does not last longer than 30sec. If the time limit is exceeded permanent damage can occur due to lack of oxygen to the tissues.

In order to deal with this serious health concern, an Israeli company has developed an innovative time-controlled intubation device. The new device is essentially combined with a laryngoscope to result in safer intubation procedures. There are numerous advantages associated with this approach given that it is easy to use and adapts without difficulty to existing equipment.

The use of such a device could ensure the safety of the intubation process minimizing the risks posed by malpractice suits and the hazards to patient wellbeing. The company that developed the device is now seeking to form joint venture agreements with a medical device firm. The terms of the agreement would cover final development of the device and the creation of a marketable product.
