European Schoolnet (EUN) has announced the 22 finalists for its eLearning Awards 2001. The awards are part of eSchola, a European e-learning week organised through collaboration between EUN, the European Commission's Education and Culture DG and corporate partners. The finalists have been selected from more than 900 submitted projects. 12 countries are represented and the selected projects involve schools all over Europe. The finalists are in four categories - eSchool Awards, eTeaching Awards, myEUROPE Awards and eTeacher Training Awards. The winners in each category will be announced at the eLearning award ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal on 6 December 2001. They will be selected by a European jury chaired by EUN chairman Mr. Ferry de Rijcke. EUN is a joint venture involving 23 ministries of education from around Europe, supported by the European Commission. It aims to strengthen collaboration between schools at a European level and encourage the use of information and communication technologies in schools. The EUN also comprises three networks of schools and teachers: 'myEUROPE,' the 'European network of innovative schools' and the 'virtual school'. These networks focus on education innovation, teacher support and school networking through curriculum-based Internet and computer projects.
