The EU-funded PRISM CODE (Privacy and security for mobile cooperative devices) project worked to design tools relating to communications privacy and security. The application is future distributed communications services that underlie personal mobile devices. The concept relies on the simultaneous presence of both privacy and security. The former refers to non-disclosure of personal information, while the latter refers to a degree of protection from malicious intent. The privacy and security tools designed cover upcoming distributed services based on collaboration of mobile personal devices such as tablets and smartphones. As a result of its intensive research efforts, the PRISM CODE team published 36 journal papers and 70 conference papers. Further publications include one book chapter and edited conference proceedings. Project researchers have served as programme chair and associate editor of a journal. The team founded the SPRITZ Security and Privacy Research Group at the University of Padua, Italy, which includes 9 PhD and 10 MSc students. Lastly, it established strong international partnerships. The project’s outcomes are valuable in advancing privacy and security in communications.
