The European Commission has published its new Materials for green cars call for proposals. It is part of the latest set of calls published under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). Increasingly energy-efficient electric vehicles require efficient breaking energy recovery, high-performance and cost-effective energy storage systems and, last but not least, lightweight materials. The aim is clear: getting more kilometres out of the same amount of energy, while ensuring that battery production, usage and disposal is sustainable. Well aware of the need to boost research on novel battery materials in Europe, The European Commission will be funding EUR 20 million-worth of projects looking into post lithium-ion technology for innovative and ageing-resistant batteries. To see the official call announcement, please consult: Participant portal To see partnership requests for this call, please consult: CORDIS Partners Service
