The European Commission has published two calls for proposals for collaborative projects. They are part of the latest set of calls published under the EU's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). Collaborative projects are objective-driven initiatives that aim to develop new knowledge, technology or products. They may include scientific coordination, demonstrations or sharing of common resources in order to improve European competitiveness or address major societal needs. The first call includes four topics: obstacles and prospects for sustainable lifestyles and a European green economy; social innovation; multilingual challenges; and overcoming youth unemployment. It encompasses all large-scale integrated research projects whereas the second focuses on small or medium-scale projects. The latter covers a wide spectrum of topics ranging from the impact of ageing on public finances to post-carbon cities in Europe, cultural heritage, anti-trafficking and the role of media in conflict and peace-building.To see the official call announcements, please consult the Participant Portal: Large-scale research http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/page/cooperation?callIdentifier=FP7-SSH-2013-2 (Small or medium-scale projects- To see partnership requests for this call, please consult: CORDIS Partners Service
