European Information Technology Prize 1998
The annual European Information Technology (IT) Prize is an award for novel products based on information technology. Organized by the EU's ESPRIT programme and the European Council of Applied Sciences and Engineering (Euro-CASE), the Prize is distinguished for its excellence, objectivity and relevance to business and society. Applications are currently being invited for the 1998 European IT Prize, under the theme "Novel products with a high IT content and evident market potential". Applications will be accepted for demonstrable prototypes or products introduced onto the market after 1 June 1996. Awards will be given to outstanding contributions in generating and converting innovative ideas and R&D results into marketable products. There will be a maximum of three Grand Prizes, worth ECU 200,000 each, and up to 25 prizes of ECU 5,000 each (five of which will be reserved for applicants from Central and Eastern Europe). In addition to the monetary awards, short-listed applicants will have the opportunity to exhibit their products at the European IT Conference (EITC'98) exhibition, and will benefit from extensive media coverage.
